About: J-HF is implementing WASH component of the WEAVE project that combines advocacy, education, infrastructure development, and WASH related economic empowerment for vulnerable women and contributing to the overall well-being of the targeted communities. WASH efforts will be implemented in schools and communities. 10 Environmental Health Clubs (EHCs) in schools will be established and trained to promote hygiene practices in the communities. The project will engage and train Community Health Promoters (CHPs) to conduct hygiene promotion sessions using Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials. Water access will be addressed through the rehabilitation of 2 broken down motorized boreholes in selected communities. The project will construct inclusive toilets in four community markets managed by Sanitation Market Committee to curb the incidences of open defecation which is prevalent in the targeted communities. Local Area Mechanics (LAMs) will be identified, trained and repair toolkits will be procured for the LAMs strengthening their capacities to maintain WASH infrastructure for sustainability. Menstrual health kits will be procured and distributed to 800 women as well as 1200 hygiene and replenishment kits distributed to the most vulnerable women in the project communities
