Location: FUFORE, MUBI NORTH AND MUBI SOUTH LGA
Date: 24TH OCTOBER & 16TH NOVEMBER 2023
About:
Cholera continues to pose a major global public health threat and is a marker of inequality and poverty as it reflects the lack of access to basic water and sanitation infrastructures. The risk of the spread of cholera is particularly high in humanitarian settings and fragile contexts. According to Nigerian Health sector bulletin, July 2023 there are 1.5 million people targeted for health response in Adamawa state for the year 2023 across the 21 LGAs, and cholera preparedness and response taking the center stage of all health responses across the health sector’s approved priority location. Out of the priority locations JHF targeted Fufore, Mubi North and Mubi South LGAs as hot beds of cholera outbreak in 2023. Cholera transmission risk is higher for cholera case household members and nearby households. Mass intervention to contain cholera outbreaks are not resource efficient. Preventive interventions targeting cholera case-households and neighbors have been found effective in past outbreaks.
Reach: 2060 Households.
